How often are the exchange rates updated?
Our rates come from the European Central Bank and refresh once every business day, around 4pm Central European Time. They reflect the mid-market (interbank) rate — the midpoint between the buy and sell price that banks trade at.
Is the converter rate the rate I will actually get?
Not exactly. The mid-market rate is the fair benchmark, but banks and transfer services add a margin to the rate and sometimes a fee, so you will usually receive a little less. Our money-transfer guides show which providers stay closest to the mid-market rate.
What is the mid-market rate?
It is the real exchange rate — the midpoint between what buyers and sellers will trade a currency for on the global market. It carries no markup, which is why it is the number you should compare every provider against.
